Bergamasca Sheep

Post by Shepherd » Mon Jan 01, 2018 10:14 pm

The Bergamasca came from northern Italy, and may have been bred from Sudanese sheep.

The breed is used for meat, milk, and wool, and can produce an average of 250kg of milk with 6 per cent fat over a six-month lactation period.

The Bergamasca is polled and one of the lop-eared alpine breeds of Fabrianese, Perugian Lowland, Pavullese and Zakynthos sheep.

Distribution is in Europe and South America.
